Twitter suspends WND for Seth Rich reportTwitter, whose founder has expressed regret that his organization’s advocacy for free speech may have contributed to Donald Trump’s election as president, on Wednesday suspended for 12 hours WND.com’s account for a headline tweet on Donna Brazile’s involvement in the scandal developing over the death of DNC staffer Seth Rich.
Rich died in a gun attack in Washington, D.C., last July, and several individuals believe he was the source of DNC internal emails that were turned over to WikiLeaks and published on the Internet on the eve of the Democratic National Convention.
The tweet was: “Bombshell: Donna Brazile warned off private eye on Seth Rich murder…”
http://www.wnd.com/2017/05/twitter-suspends-news-agency-for-seth-rich-report/Not a reader of WND, but I find this sort of censorship abhorrent. Allowing censorship of any sort leaves us open to certain coalitions of people having control over the public narrative.
This is the very thing that "Freedom of Speech" was written into the Constitution to prevent.
Twitter is currently not big enough to control speech in the manner of the Broadcasting Networks, but it sets an ominous precedent for the future and it encourages other industries (Google, Fascist book) to do so as well.
I've heard there is a Twitter competitor now called "Gab." (Silly name)
