Case of Iraqi soldier claiming organ theft during treatment sparks outcry Staff writer, Al Arabiya English Wednesday, 17 May 2017The case of an Iraqi soldier, who claimed that one of his kidneys were stolen during treatment in a hospital in the capital Baghdad almost three years ago, sparked uproar and angered the country’s defense minister.“The encroachment against this heroic soldier was as if they [culprits] put two of their fingers in the eyes of the minister,” in reference to himself, Iraqi Defense Minister Urfan Al-Hayali said during a press conference and meeting with the soldier Assi Shakeer on Monday.Hayali ordered his ministry to begin a probe and requested Iraq’s ministry of health to open another investigation.
