Democrats Openly Talk of Impeachment
« on: May 11, 2017, 02:25:30 pm »
By Jeffrey Rodack   |   Thursday, 11 May 2017 07:26 AM

In the wake of the firing of FBI Director James Comey, Democrats are now publicly discussing the possible impeachment of President Donald Trump, McClatchy reported.

While Democratic leaders are not officially calling for impeachment proceedings, they are getting closer, according to McClatchy.

"We should maybe have an impeachment clock," Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Wis., said. "And if we did, I think (Comey's firing) moved us about an hour closer to having that need.

Talk is cheap.

Unless they can establish something that ties Trump to a Nixon style Saturday Night Massacre they've got nothing but hot air and their own petulance that the guy that protected Hillary got shown the door.

Do they have any particular impeachable offense in mind.... or are they just looking for anything and everything they "think" they can use against Trump?   Further, which particular Republicans are they trying to compromise.... because without those votes, they will never manage an impeachment action against Trump.  Even further....their own idol (or one of them), Clinton, was impeached.... yet still remained in office.  How, exactly, even if they could get the votes.... would impeaching Trump help their cause?  Seems to me it would doom them.... since Trump can be VERY vindictive.  Just thoughts to ponder....

I'd love to see this as a precedent: We don't like you, so we are going to impeach you!

YEEEEEAH! Impeachment hearings every two years whenever we flip the House! Fun!

Hey - don't these democrats have some conservative speakers to go beat up at Berkley or something?
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

What would Trump be impeached for? I'm no fan but he's nothing illegal from what I can see.

Let them talk!  They've been talking impeachment even before he was sworn in.

More like since Bush 43.  They still want revenge for the impeachment of Billy Jeff.

From what I see the only thing helping the Pubs is the fanatical lunacy of the Rats. The Pubs aren't keeping the promises they made, but because the Rats are so radical and strident the base for the Pubs might just show up in 2018.

If the Pubs ever learned how to lead they would become a super majority.

I think you're right.  I think the country is leaning in the direction of conservatism if the Republicans don't scare them off.

Democrats continually act like the bully in the playground and they'll keep pushing until somebody pushes back.

This is nothing new except for the fact they keep upping the ante.

Precisely. In the meantime, the prosecutions for playing fast and loose with classified material should proceed with full vigor allowed under the law, no matter which dark Democrat road that takes us down.

Right now, talk of impeachment is silly, but this is just the first 3 months.  President Trump is just getting warmed up, and he has already thrilled the nation with the intrigue of corruption and jollity of ineptitude.

Who knows how the voters will feel in another 39 months ( according to Biblical prophesy ) and under the strange and warm glow of the fallout of his actions?

The Democrats can't impeach Trump.  Only the Republicans can.   Remember that with Nixon,  the turning point came when Howard Baker concluded the Nixon presidency wasn't sustainable.

Trump's problem is that he is tone-deaf concerning how his actions put Republican politicians in a no-win situation.

Sad part is if that ad was run again by the dems against Trump it would recieve the same success thanks to the MSM and by Trump himself who could not under any circumstances let the slight against him go untweeted!

Contrary to popular belief, the "Daisy" ad was not yanked off the air because of complaints. In fact, the Goldwater camp's outrage amplified the impact of the $25,000 ad buy because it drew more attention to the spot. That made it a news story.

"It was so powerful that the reaction was so enormous and impactful that all three networks ran it in their newscasts the next two or three nights," Wright recalled. "It did its job, we thought, and we didn't need to spend more money to buy more time when it was getting free play."

Myers also made the point that Goldwater and the Republicans made the situation worse for themselves by carping about it. "They just blew it out of proportion," he said. "It only ran once, but it ran a million times on the news."

Considering that Trump used the media like a rented mule to get to the nomination by constantly upstaging everyone else in the race through the primaries and being controversial throughout, he should see the potential pitfalls in making issues out of things best left alone. By complaining, he makes a wild-eyed allegation a story.
Some things it is better to just let go by and not take that bait.
