No, this isn't a joke; the demented windmill and the wild professor will go at it.  RINO vs. Socialist, should be pure entertainment.  Note to Jazz:  advanced tickets aren't needed!   :eatdrink:

John Kasich to debate Bernie Sanders on CNN prime-time show

Ohio Gov. John Kasich has said Republicans need to reach across the aisle to solve the country's big problems.

Next week, Kasich will take part in a bit of a bipartisan effort himself -- he is scheduled to appear on CNN at 9 p.m. May 16 in a televised town hall debate with one of the darlings of national progressives --  Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who like Kasich unsuccessfully ran for president in 2016.

The town hall will be filmed in Washington D.C., and moderated by CNN's Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, according to CNN.

This is not the first time Sanders, an independent who ran as a Democrat for president, will debate a Republican on CNN -- in February, he matched up with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz to debate the future of Obamacare. Kasich also is no stranger to CNN -- he appeared on a CNN town hall on April 18, and also has become a fixture on "State of the Union," the television network's Sunday morning show that's hosted by Tapper. ..........

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Two perspectives that aren't being addressed by either party.  Sanders commie agenda is still far to the left of the Democratic mainstream,  and Kasich represents the centrist paradigm of sound public policy,  promotion of economic growth, and commitment to civil liberties that (some) conservatives demand purged from the GOP.

I assume both will talk past one another,  but I hope folks will watch, and see what both parties are ignoring.

It's being ignored because Bernies Marxism and Johns Impotence are both unpalatable to the majority of voters.....thankfully.

Impotence?   That's what Washington suffers from today,  with each party like entrenched armies at the Somme -  no quarter, no compromise, and accomplishing absolutely nothing.

A lot of us are conservative on economic issues and moderate on social issues.    And even more of us demand the parties stop their bloodsport and engage in the resolution of the peoples' business.

Both major parties were frozen out of the recent French elections;  the race was between a fringe idiot and a centrist promising competence.   Trump didn't gain his support from fussy conservatives, but from centrists seeking an alternative to the damn games in D.C.

Impotence . . . I don't know. He messed up right to work here in Ohio by, well, let's just say he got a little too excited a little to soon. He encouraged too much legislation prematurely.
I stand with Roosgirl.

Are they going to tie Bernie to a chair with one hand lashed behind him, so that it can be a fair fight...?   ;)

Kasich and Bernie ... no one will need a sleeping pill after that.
Against stupidity, the Gods themselves contend in vain.

Mrs. Kasich. Your son is a dolt who no voters wanted to have anything to do with. We have election results that conclusivly prove that. His solutions are big govt' and his reasoning for it comes from that of a snake handling religious sect.

Everything you said, including that Trump didn't get all the Conservative vote in the election, is total bullshit. Know how I know? Because we had an election with results and while your son was bathing in balloons at his single primary win, Donny kicked his ass.
