On Tuesday the Department of Energy declared an emergency at a nuclear storage facility in Washington State
(VERO BEACH, FL) An emergency alert has been declared at the Hanford Nuclear Facility in Washington State after the collapse of a rail tunnel near the PUREX building – plutonium uranium extraction plant of the facility.
Workers took cover and turned off ventilation systems after minor damage was discovered in the wall of a transport tunnel, a spokeswoman for the Department of Energy said by telephone from the Hanford Joint Information Center.
