Several pounds of heroin worth $700K seized during suburban drug bust: police

Several pounds of heroin with an estimated street value of nearly $700,000 were seized during an arrest in Crystal Lake, authorities said.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Department said its narcotics task force starting investigating Roman Castro, 47, after "receiving information that Castro was holding a large amount of heroin"
in his Crystal Lake apartment.

Detectives recovered 3,462 grams, or about 7 pounds, of heroin, scales and packaging materials from the residence and arrested Castro on Tuesday, charging him with unlawful possession and delivery of a controlled substance, the sheriff's office said in a news release.
