Royal Teens with Al Kooper,  Bob Gaudio on piano.

Short Shorts hit the charts in early '58. Kooper joined them briefly in '59. The drummer in your vid pic is Tom Austin...met him & got his autograph a few years ago.

Here's one of theirs from '59:

@austingirl
They changed almost completely not long after that, were huge in England, couldn't really
catch on again in the States, but their live album was a pretty good example of how they
became such big stars in England in the 1970s:

Pictures of Matchstick men always struck me as being a vastly underappreciated piece of music. Off the beaten track in some respects, but pretty much perfect in every way. Music is supposed to move you and create paintings in your mind, and this song certainly does both.

I wore out a copy of that single myself back in the year. The album (A Message from the Status Quo) wasn't
bad, either.

You are not kidding that they completely changed! Some bluesy stuff. I never knew about their later success in England.

ROLF WALKS FREE Rolf Harris leaves court a free man after jury fails to reach a verdict on four indecent assault charges – and he won’t face a re-trial

The jury deliberated for just under five hours but were unable to come to a decision

ROLF Harris is a free man after a jury today failed to reach a verdict in his indecent assault trial.

The 87-year-old from Maidenhead, Berks, had been accused of indecently assaulting three teenage girls, the youngest of whom was 13, at public events between 1971 and 1983.

It's a nice little song. Did they not find any wrongdoing ever that he did? I know he was in the news.  It's good if they did not find him guilty, one is not sure what to make of these things, maybe his name was needlessly dragged through the mud.

I've loosely been following the case. Back a few years ago, they discovered that quite a few UK media personalities were total creeps, and worse. Jimmy Savile is the most infamous example. Harris got caught up in that same dragnet.

With Harris, though, the case always appeared quite weak at least to me, and given that the prosecution doesn't see any need to press for a retrial even if they could, it tells me that they know it probably won't stand.

Over there is Wink Texas where Roy hailed from, New Mexico treated me, well so-so, I may go back, I was over in Clovis New Mexico, Norman Petty studios where Buddy Holly recorded "Not Fade Away"...

And from Wink, to where Tanya Tucker, Waylon, Buck Owens and others were born in that area.... and how few or many did tragedy strike.  Oh, and Buddy Holly....
