Lenny Welch, the man who transformed Sedaka bubblegum pop into a smoky ballad, and inspired Neil Sedaka himself to do the same
Ahhhhhhhhhhh, so he was the one! I must remember to thank him for that . . . not. ;)

Welch really got hurt when Archie Bleyer decided to close down the Cadence label he, Bleyer, created
in 1952. Not long after that, Welch was shopping for a new record deal when he got drafted; he eventually
signed with Kapp, then Atlantic, then he took time off to re-think his career. It proved a mistake; he never
quite regained his early momentum. Sad for a guy who was once thought to be the Johnny Mathis of
doo-wop singers . . .

If Robin Trower and Pink Floyd ever collaborated this is what they would produce.

I had this album, I know I like some of it, especially the last song where he introduces the band. A lot on the Blues has been in this forum. I don't recall any John Mayall.  I had his subsequent double album,  I think it was okay but not very bluesy.

Interesting little report on who they thought could have been Robert Johnson on film but they say the movie posters in the background make it impossible that this was Johnson, read it for oneself.

Rolling Stones do do a good version of this one, imho.

Not her birthday, but with all that goes on in the world, there is a Christian singer named Audrey Assad;  I saw in one place, she is the daughter of a Syrian refugee from a number of years ago. Not from this current conflict.
