More completely objective reporting from AP:
Quote
PARIS (AP) — French voters decided Sunday whether to back pro-business independent Emmanuel Macron or far-right populist Marine Le Pen as their next president, casting ballots in an unusually tense and important presidential election that also could decide Europe’s future.

With Macron the pollsters’ favorite, voting stations opened across mainland France at 8 a.m. (0600 GMT) under the watch of 50,000 security forces guarding against extremist attacks. Polling agency projections and initial official results are expected as soon as the final stations close at 8 p.m. (1800 GMT.) ...

The press is so in the tank for the Macaroon.
Reminds me of another election that just passed.

When is the last time they had a good leader? Cuz they ain't getting one this time.

Probably early 1700's.  The French are like a battered woman going back for abuse over and over again.

That is why Frenchmen have so many mistresses.

27%, very low turnout, that means also that if one of the candidates can get their constituents to turn out, they could win.

That poll the other day that showed Le Pen far behind was a "snap" poll taken right after the debate. So we will see.

No idea how it will turn out.  Polls in Europe are just as effed up as the polls here because of the media bias, and people have learned to lie to pollsters.  That said, never underestimated the ability of the French to vote for their own self destruction.

See?  You can't believe a freakin' poll out there, none.  France is terrible among terribles that way.  I don't even have faith they'll count the votes properly.  The Aristocrats have their preferred candidate, and that will be who wins.

This is all my fault, I briefly saw a headline, it was about a quarter of the people who abstained. My error.

Too bad, Macron wins in a landslide.

However it goes, I hope it goes better for France.

I understand the EU brings in lots of money; whether I agree with it or not.

Sorry folks, I didn't mean to misstate things.   :nono:

EU is going to Hell in a handbag, and France is leading the way.  With Obama's chosen candidate winning it will be a faster trip.  That's not on you, Tom.

Macron elected French president: estimates
[AFP]
Adam PLOWRIGHT
AFPMay 7, 2017

Paris (AFP) - Pro-European centrist Emmanuel Macron resoundingly won France's landmark presidential election, first estimates showed Sunday, heading off a fierce challenge from the far-right in a pivotal vote for the future of the divided country and Europe.

The victory caps an extraordinary rise for the 39-year-old former investment banker, who will become the country's youngest-ever leader.

He has promised to heal a fractured and demoralised country after a vicious campaign that has exposed deep economic and social divisions, as well as tensions around identity and immigration.

Well, they had a choice between a bleep and a twit, so they chose as Frenchmen.

(I see the posting software didn't like my first choice, so imagine the second choice with an alternate vowel for a second letter.)

I think Abraxas was just commenting on the the French elections; not trying to influence them.

Obviously. The election is already over but the "anti globalists" certainly tried to manipulate it from afar.
