Senate confirms Gorsuch to Supreme Court, giving Trump big win

The Senate on Friday confirmed Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, giving President Trump the biggest victory of his first 100 days in office.
 
The 54-45 vote caps a bitter political battle that began with the death of Justice Antonin Scalia more than a year ago and resulted in the Senate triggering the so-called “nuclear option” to block the Democrats’ ability to filibuster Gorsuch.

If, like me, you like Roberts you will like Gorsuch.

It will be interesting to see if the folks that are calling this a big win will be thinking the same way a year or two down the road.....

I don't hear a lot of love for Roberts by many on the right so all this big win talk a bit puzzling to me 

I suspect like sports fans, Trump fans are simply cheering because their side scored...

Congratulations to the stalwart leadership in the Senate GOP for overcoming obstructionism and confirming the appointment of a superb new Justice to the SCOTUS.    Justice Gorsuch is, I believe,  a conservative jurist in the best sense of the word,   evaluating the law in the context of the Constitution rather than political ideology.   If he's as good a Justice as Roberts or Alito,  I will be very pleased.

Nothing negative at all, I've watched him on the 10th Circuit, read and used his opinions and think he is an excellent Jurist and will make an outstanding SC Justice. I share his and Roberts judicial philosophy that a judge should be an umpire calling balls and strikes.

I just find it curious that those having qualms about Roberts think Gorsuch is the second coming of Scalia which he is not...

Where this was a big win was in ending the tyranny of the minority. The Pubs would never muster 40 no's on a RAT SCOTUS nominee no matter how much of a radical leftist the Rats POTUS nominated. Kagan, Sotomayor, & Ginsburg are proof. However, now the Rats who would have no problem putting together 40 no's no longer have the power to manipulate the Pub POTUS into nominating "centrists".

If Pres. Trump can actually get some big things done e.g., repeal obamacare, build a wall, and tax reform the Pubs stand a good chance of picking up seats in 2018. If this happens he can nominate a more conservative justice and not worry about the Pub liberals not supporting the nominee. A BIG WIN!
