I don't see it as Repubs backing down.  The committee is still going.  Nunes would still be there if he hadn't kept info. from the committee and gone to the White House with it, and canceled meetings.   I'm not surprised it was taken to the ethics committee.

If Nunes did not have the backbone to go to the only SCIF possible to see the raw intelligence, the 'nothing to see here' voices would have prevailed .

Helping the Iraqi CTS units win Mosul.  Helping the Kurds/Yazidis surround Raqqa. 

Raiding Terrorists in Yemen and gaining actionable intel.

Uncovering Obama's wire tapping and related henchmen.

Nunes' actions were bizarre, getting info. and running to the White House, canceling meetings, etc., etc.  Okay, read the report above so the committee is taken care of by others stepping in.  Nunes behavior caused this.

I don't know about all that but Nunes exudes confidence and competence.  I like him.
