Rice was within legal rights to 'unmask' Trump associates
By Bradley Moss, opinion contributor - 04/04/17 01:00 PM EDT

As Monday morning dawned, several media outlets broke a story that gave new life to the ongoing political saga surrounding President Trump’s allegations that the Obama administration had “spied” on him (as well as his campaign and transition teams). The reports stated that former National Security Advisor Susan Rice had been the official who had requested the unmasking of the identities of several Trump associates contained in intelligence reports derived from authorized surveillance.

Almost immediately, partisans on both sides leapt to put their spin on the new information, often times without regard for even the appearance of objectivity or factual accuracy. Through the partisan haze and cable news hyperbolic rhetoric, however, one thing has become rather clear: absent some new information, the current reports do not demonstrate that Rice’s actions were illegal, unethical or otherwise inconsistent with existing government protocols.

In providing excuses and cover for Rice, let's not forget--she is the one that blamed 4 dead Americans in Benghazi, over a film.

This was cover for Clinton and Obama. She is clearly a political operator of the very worst type.

Over and over and over again........ with no shame.

Yep.  Without a conscience, and bought at any price.

The WH has no business running investigations on their own.

Well then.... if everything is just fine and dandy.... and if there's nothing dirty goin on with all this unmasking and accessing data....  I guess it's also perfectly fine and dandy if the Trump administration's intel agency ops follows suit and does the exact same thing with regards to certain Democrats in and out of DC then.  Fair is fair.  Right?

There is something I've been thinking about in this. If it is shown that what Rice was doing was simple opposition research that is being blown out of proportion (on purpose), it could be distracting from the wiretapping investigation. It is almost like the Alice in Wonderland strategy, create a lot of imaginary rabbits and rabbit holes to keep people scrambling and distracted while missing the real issue.

Just a thought/concern. This seems to be a deeper game than appears on the surface. I wouldn't be surprised at all if there is some gamesmanship going on taking advantage of a very reactionary administration.
