Levin and Loesch both took the simple 'Stop Hillary' approach but I didn't hear either be an apologist, at that, both were very critical. I think that's a pretty honest way of having dealt with it and I can't really find fault. Very different than the Hannity/Rush/JR crowd who became almost religious apostles for the Orange one.

@AbaraXas

You're right, and though my reasoning was different, I at least get that approach.  But Loesch is the only one I listen to regularly, and I've heard her veer away from hard criticism of Trump more than once.

I don't know, maybe she thinks going off on Trump might only serve to inflame matters.  She isn't normally the type to shrink from that kind of thing.

Have you actually listened to Levin? If you answer "Yes" then I suggest you get your auditory processing ability tested, for it is clearly defective.

Levin actually encouraged his listening audience to contact their congress critters and tell them to vote no on RyanCare.  He knew it was another caca sandwich.  So no, I'm sure he hasn't been listening to Levin.

The defeat served Trump with the first major legislative defeat of his presidency.

The defeat was also a blessing in disguise. No one wanted this bill except for a handful of stupid people. I also read through the list of Freedom Causus members and they won by sizable margins in their elections/reelections. Donny, not so much.

This is a war he will not win and make the rest of his agenda DOA. What a dope.

@Frank Cannon

Agreed.  Also, I might be wrong, but I think the majority of the HFC supported Trump.

Meanwhile just yesterday CENTCOM accused Russia of arming the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Turnabout being fair play....  Putin must love the irony of it.

So now we are throwing the FC under the bus for the sake of Trump?

When does this madness end? Seriously, what is the direction we (FR) are taking here?

Pinging the owner because I think this is reaching insane levels of spin.

HFC = House Freedom Caucus. The Conservative Caucus for all intents and purposes. Probably the last remenents of the original Tea Party in relation to elected officials.

How is it my fault @bolobaby that the Freedom Caucus has transformed Ronald Reagan's 80/20 rule into an all of nothing stone wall?

What should be understood is that repealing Obamacare is not the whole loaf. Without Obamacare there is still Medicaid and Medicare and a host of smaller programs. IOW, the FC is not riding a great steed with the Constitution as banner and God at their back.

If what the House Pubs come up with is a step in the right direction then we should take it and move on from there.

I was wondering if one of the resident apologists would chime in.

Bless your heart.

Ok, thanks!

Listening to Rush saying it wasn't the conservatives that tanked the bill.  Which means what he's not coming out and saying.... Trump is wrong to target conservatives re: this.

Are you suggesting @Doug Loss that Ronald Reagan's 80/20 rule means Reagan had no principles?   :pondering:

They haven't...the  just demonstrate how far to the left the GOP has gone...the last couple pages of Animal farm come to mind.

But leave it to you to defend the indefensible...at least here anyway.  I doubt you're as forgiving Donny elsewhere.

No it means YOU and Trump and anyone else who defense his burgeoning war on Conservatives have no principles.

But then you already knew that.

Nope, I'm saying that you're falsely equating that rule with the Freedom Caucus's standing on principles in opposing AHCA.

To make matters worse, Trump is actually attacking far more than the HFC. We know that more non members than members intended to vote no and those non members who were no votes also know they're targets.

He's already winning.  It's giving him the desired excuse to move left overtly.

Sadly...to answer FourtySeven's question...it won't end.

Trumps a populist and a Liberal and he never had any intention of doing anything in a Conservative manner.

And all asking JimRob about it will get you is a tombstone.

He's already winning.  It's giving him the desired excuse to move left overtly.

He can say "I tried working with Conservatives and they wouldn't play ball...the left me no choice but to work with Democrats".

That will be his MO on the wall...immigration...taxes...trade...etc etc.

Indeed.  The HFC is what...18 members?  There is no way ONLY 18 members prevented that idiotic Obama lite bill from passing.  far many more Republicans knew it was a disaster.

But with Trump going after the HFC...he's sending a message to anyone else who doesn't support his Liberal agenda items.

But.... since the HFC is an easier target ..... it's the target-of-choice for Trump, natch.  Those New York Liberal values seem to be leaking out, despite best efforts to caulk them.  This TrYanCare caca is going to sink him, I suspect.  If Trump were smart, he would back away from it, blame Ryan for the whole thing (oh wait...) instead of blaming conservatives, and insist on a complete rewrite of the bill with emphasis on repeal, not patch.
