That's a fair point, but given that there are only 235 GOP House members, and 218 is required for a majority, that means we can only lose 17 votes total in the entire House. So if 15 members of the HFC opposed the bill, three moderates could sink it the rest of the way. And given that there are 50 members of the Tuesday group....
Bottom line is that if 15 HFC members oppose a bill, it's not going to pass.
I think it could have passed with a few Democrats but with the Hastert rule it was DOA.
