Trump picks Boeing exec to be deputy secretary of defense

President Trump has named a Boeing executive to be a top Pentagon official, the White House announced Thursday.

Boeing Company senior vice president Patrick M. Shanahan has been named the next deputy secretary of defense.

Currently, Shanahan runs the airplane manufacturer’s supply chain and operations and previously he managed Boeing Commercial Airplane’s profit and loss programs for the 737, 747, 767, 777 and 787 airplanes.

I would wonder about conflict of interest issues with any Boeing defense procuments. Boeing DC lobbyist have ended up in jail before, so all eyes will be on Pat.  Other than that worry,  he is an excellent canident for running any department.
