RINO-CARE: A MORE INSOLVENT VERSION OF OBAMACARE...EXCEPT THIS TIME THE GOP OWNS IT

By Daniel Horowitz
March 7, 2017

The first thing to understand about the GOP healthcare bill is that it is not merely Obamacare-lite or a bad “replacement” bill. It doesn’t repeal the core of Obamacare in the first place. In fact, the few parts that it repeals or tweaks within a few years will actually intensify the death spiral of Obamacare when mixed with the core regulatory structure, exacerbated by the subsidies that they do keep. And this time, the GOP will own it politically. All of it.

The most dangerous myth about the GOP plan is that it repeals Obamacare. At least if GOP leadership would be honest and say they are too scared to repeal the ACA and are just tweaking it a few years from now (after the death spiral is made worse), then we can blame the Democrats for voting for it. Now that a bill codifying Obamacare in the worst possible form is being sold as “repeal and replace,” Republicans have bailed out Democrats from their most toxic political issue without securing a single concession.

Regulations, spending, mandates, subsidies, and taxes

The basic structure of this plan is what I outlined last week after the first draft was leaked to the media. There is no discussion of lowering prices, fostering a revolution of choice, competition, portability, cost-consciousness, or breaking down the barriers between consumer and provider. That is because most of the regulatory structure and the exchanges are left in place.

There is no innovation, and no way to lower costs. While some of the regulations are tweaked with more flexibility, the 800-pound gorilla in the room — guaranteed issue mixed with community rating (which is responsible for almost all of the premium hikes) — is left in place. Nor does this bill repeal the mandated essential benefits, which require insurers to cover a specific number of people and sex change operations, maternity care for men, etc.

In other words, it is doing what Trump said he was going to do... So the people who voted for it are getting what they voted for...

Bingo.

Nail.

Suckers.
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

I feel sure that my friend @RandPaul will come along with the new and great health care program because he knows Obamacare is a disaster!

That's great for insurers like Josh Kushner (Brother of Jerod). They get paid for to insure lots of claims that have zero chance of ever being filed.

Unless we perfect the em drive and locate a planet with some really seductive space babes with very bizarre seahorse like practices the odds of my needing maternity care are not appreciably different from zero.

All of which, of course, were designed to ensure people were paying for services they'd never redeem, so that those with expensive and pre-existing conditions could be funded. This, of course, was the whole point of the individual mandate as well (which largely failed, because it turned out most of those who were uninsured ended up on Medicaid anyway).

AARP rips GOP's 'harmful' healthcare legislation

 By Megan R. Wilson - 03/07/17 08:02 PM EST

AARP is going on the warpath against the Republican proposal to repeal and replace ObamaCare.

The lobbying group for seniors accused House Republican leaders of crafting legislation that increases insurance premiums for consumers, while giving a “sweetheart deal” to “big drug companies and special interests.”

“Although no one believes the current health care system is perfect, this harmful legislation would make health care less secure and less affordable,” said Nancy LeaMond, AARP’s executive vice president, said in a statement.

Republicans unveiled the long-awaited healthcare reform proposal, called the American Health Care Act, on Monday.

The AARP blasted several aspects of the legislation, including provisions that would scale back the Medicaid expansion and cut back the amount of federal funding per enrollee.

The advocacy group for seniors also slammed the Republican push to eliminate the ObamaCare-era taxes that have helped fund an expansion of insurance coverage. LeaMond said the bill "would weaken Medicare."

AARP also highlights a provision in the American Health Care Act allowing insurance companies to charge patients in their 50s and early 60s up to five times more than younger policy holders. Under current rules put in place by ObamaCare, those fees are capped at a three-to-one ratio.

“Before people even reach retirement age, big insurance companies could be allowed to charge them an age tax that adds up to thousands of dollars more per year,” LeaMond said.

“Older Americans need affordable health care services and prescriptions. This plan goes in the opposite direction, increasing insurance premiums for older Americans and not doing anything to lower drug costs,” she continued.

We warned and we pleaded, and we provided enough evidence to showcase that the GOP had absolutely no intention to repeal ObamaCare, or do anything to reverse what Obama has created in terms of unbridled Statism, but rather they would 'manage it better'.

Since people are stuck on stupid and only know how to attack and berate Conservatives who were busy trying to get enough people to vote 3rd Party to keep a limited government voice alive in politics - we are forever consigned to the ash heap of history like every single Republic that came before us.

We cannot say we were not warned and had no evidence.

We had plenty - but the people want Government to be God - and so our decline into collapse will continue, unabated.

And no, I do not want to hear how Trump is 'going to save us'.

He won't do jack except Tweet his Reality TV war against his enemies.

Like Schwarzenegger.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Isn't this what Trump said he was going to do? So isn't congress giving him what he wanted?

What part of "GET THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THE HELL OUT OF THE INSURANCE MARKET" do these people not understand?

Trump just hurried them along to produce this cluster^*ck, left on their own timetable they would have screwed it up even worse, if that is imaginable, IMHO, so maybe there is a silver lining in here, somewhere.

Yesterday Dana Loesch speculated that Cruz might not get too involved because he's up for re-election in 2018.  Last I heard, he wasn't scheduled to participate in a presser with Rand Paul and Mike Lee.

So that's kind of interesting.

It is interesting @CatherineofAragon , I suspect Sen. Cruz may be laying back on this fight, as important as it is, allowing Lee and Paul to be point man on opposition in the Senate and the Freedom Caucus in the House as backup, to gain more latitude with judicial appointees within the Trump Administration, it's working wonders so far, IMHO

    Yes, I was trolling @TomSea

Watching Hannity right now (which I rarely do).  I am blown away at the level of his stupidity.

He just cited a case where on individual through individual bargaining with providers was able to provide affordable concierge care for members of a group who are willing to pay monthly into this small group.  He then asks total sell-out Tom Price if the government can do the same thing.

Idiot.  The reason we have a problem to begin with is because individual bargaining has essentially been outlawed because of the very government oversight which Hannity is now pimping.

Just listening to these kapos infuriates the hell out of me.  We now have Republicans trying to save the very disaster the Democrats placed on us instead of letting it die.  Republicans are not our friend.
