I serviced lease locomotives up the river in Morrisville, PA at the port facility at the former U.S. Steel Fairless Works. Huge "Chernobyl" steel slabs were brought in, unloaded to railcars, sent to rolling mills out in western PA, turned into coils, then shipped back to be loaded onto ships to go back to international destinations.
To me, it seemed absurd that here this transload port operation was going on right on the very site of what was a mighty, relatively modern, domestic steel mill that employed hundreds of employees, supported hundreds of families... and here all that infrastructure had been completely torn down and turned into brownfields.
