ISIS has been losing in Iraq for quite a few months now; maybe even a year.  Iraq has been planning on a post-ISIS Iraq for a long time.

With the Iranians also fighting ISIS in Iraq; I would be cautious about spiking the ball per their so-called defeat.

Bush came to regret his "Mission accomplished" declaration. Clearly, the game plan for the post invasion world was badly botched.

And yes, there is some degree of confidence with Mattis, Kelly, Gorka, McMaster and others on the team.

Iranian propaganda:
Quote
Iran stabilizing, US destabilizing Iraq

Quote
Alwaght– The new US administration is on an offensive aimed at watering down Iran’s positive influence in Iraq through spreading Iranophobia but Iraqis are well aware of Tehran’s crucial role in combating terrorism in their country.

US Vice President Mike Pence on Saturday on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference met Iraqi Prime minister Haidar Abadi. During the meeting he said that Washington will not allow Iran to ‘destabilize’ Iraq.

Amazing that after all these years people still believe that the Mission Accomplished banner had anything to do with President Bush.

I thought we Conservatives were smarter than that?

Bush was winning, but then he lost the narrative to the MSM.

Bush was winning, but then he lost the narrative to the MSM.

And that is because his advisors, Karl Rove and Karen Hughes, convinced him to not fight back!
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Bush was winning, but then he lost the narrative to the MSM.

The narrative was lost 5 days into the ground war in Afghanistan...2 years before we took out Saddam.

Remember the media's incessant use of the word "quagmire"...and then the endless bashing of the Administration for failing to get OBL in the Tora Bora caves?

Mosul Dam could be scarier than ISIS

Amina Mohammed has lived in the village of Wana on the banks of the Tigris River her whole life. She was here during the years of Saddam Hussein and the US war. She’s even lived under ISIS.

“They surprised us one afternoon,” she says, recalling the day ISIS swept into Wana in 2014. “They just entered the village.”

Early last year, Kurdish Peshmerga fighters pushed ISIS out of Wana with the help of US airstrikes.

But a potentially bigger threat looms just six miles upstream — the deteriorating Mosul Dam, which is holding back billions of cubic meters of water.

In February, the US Embassy in Baghdad issued a warning to American citizens about the possibility of the dam’s collapse, on top of its already stern warnings about travel to Iraq.

The US says the dam is at risk of bursting this spring, sending a flood down the Tigris that could wipe out villages and kill hundreds of thousands of people in a matter of hours.

It's been going on for awhile, months ago, a few of these Mosul dam stories showed up.

Somehow, Trump will not lose the narrative. We are hours away from taking the the key government buildings in central Mosul.

ISIS appears to have been defeated more convincingly in Iraq than Syria; that seems to be so.

Ok and?  It's war...people die.  It's war.  Bush was the last CINC I had that realized that and realized and appreciated the sacrifice we make and made.

The Mission Accomplished banner was hung by the CO of the carrier for HIS sailors mission being accomplished...they were 30 miles from San Diego and going home when the POTUS flew in for his speech.

Oh and I'll remind you that more military members died when Obama was in office in Iraq and Afghanistan than when President Bush was in charge.

That's why Bush and surrogates really should defend his record more.

They look bad and it's the press doing it. Where were all the protests about Obama's war? Hardly to be found. What a bunch of phonies the other side is.
