@CatherineofAragon
USA is not currently in a state of war with Yemen.

They are , with us.  That is what the intelligence from the raid revealed and confirmed.

I heard the clip. He was not emphasizing THEY. But, that does not come across when it is reported. It's rough enough w/o him tagging himself with a "kick me" sign.
He is the Commander in Chief.

I thought the person in command is the one who owns it.

Of course he is. Trump did a good job of unscrewing himself over this last night, I thought.

He relayed Mattis' judgement of the mission as being a success and did good damage control on his gaffe where he seemed to blame the Generals for the loss of the Seal.

Question is now, when does Raqqa fall in the campaign.  Does the 100K Iraqi army cross the border into Syria?

I said it during the election. Trump will never ever take responsibility for the deaths that WILL happen on his watch.

There is a big difference between responsibility and blame. I would hope that someone explain that to the president. It will make this sort of thing easier for everyone involved.

@Cripplecreek

They can explain it to him...doesn't mean it will click in his head.

Follow up question: How much Iranian allied force goes with them?

Unfortunately his attitude is infectious.

I didn't suggest blaming him, only that he accept the responsibilities that come with the job and his fans went ballistic over it.

When Reagan accepted responsibility for Iran Contra, he came away more popular. He said something along the lines of 'I delegated authority to people who did bad things that I disagree with but I am ultimately responsible because I am president'.

Western Syria is still Sunni, I think.  Al - Baghdadi  needs to be tried and executed in whatever is left of Raqqa.

Trump blames military for SEAL’s death

http://nypost.com/2017/02/28/trump-blames-military-for-botched-raid-that-killed-seal/

In the Trump administration, the buck apparently stops anywhere but the Oval Office.

......

@LonestarDream

Apparently, the NYPost believes that President Trump is so powerful that within 10 days of taking office, he can plan a detailed military raid and thus is responsible for the outcome.

Well that is the point.  Obama sat on the plan for months and did nothing.

Which risked having the intelligence spoil or stale.  No doubt, Trump will be to account for everything.

In my view, Trump became responsible for the outcome after taking the oath of office. That's what being CinC is all about.

Talk to anyone that served in a leadership position in the military: platoon leader, company commander, battalion commander, etc. You owned it on the day you were put in the position.

You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality.

Adult responsibilities are like that.

When I was a second shift factory foreman, I assumed control for everything on the line from the moment I took control of my shift even if the parts had been on the line 2 hours before I walked in the door. Its a simple fact of life for the big boys.
