Actually Bush seems like a pretty sincere person.  When it came to being criticized he tended to turn the other cheek...like it or not it's what he chose to do.  As a person he's probably a really nice guy....as a president...I respected him.....probably not so much now.

He was on the Today show this morning with injured service members of whom he had painted paintings.  The paintings were quite good and he was very gracious to them as they were to him.  No doubt the man has a good heart.

He wasn't perfect....but is anyone?

"[The new President] deserves my silence. There's plenty of critics in the arena. I think it's time for the ex-president to tap dance off the stage and let the current president have a go at solving the world's problems."

The apple does not fall far from the tree. It was a tragic error that Reagan made with Poppy and I said so at the time. I gave the Rockefeller Republicans their assurance that things would turn their way, as history shows they did.

IMO, Ronald Reagan chose George Herbert Walker Bush for the same political reasons that Donald Trump chose Mike Pence....geopolitical advantage(s).

....same as virtually every POTUS.

Eight years, and not ONCE did W criticize Obama.

"Criticize" is one thing.

Not defending yourself when the sitting POTUS blames you for screwing up the country/economy/world, is another.

I have no doubt he's a sincere man.

But its clear as president he did nothing to reverse the deleterious direction of the country.

Criticizing a president who might, for whatever reason, be able to actually shake up a corrupt and destructive system, especially after eight years of silence during the crypto marxist Obama administration, certainly doesn't help.

At least, Trump is a fighter; that's largely the polar opposite of what Bush was.

Cheney is a bit of a fighter.

The only "winner" was Iran.

And this might have been a contingent that Bush, Rumsfield, etc. did not take into account, that we were going to end up fighting Iran, at a minimum.

Anyone with a brain could have seen that Saddam, as bad as he might have been, was a buffer against Iran, who were always going to be a much larger threat than Saddam could ever have dreamed of being.

Yep, liberals loves them some Bush now.

The photo with Michelle was taken during the second term of Obama's (active) presidency.

The Bush bromance with BJ has, however, been going on for almost a decade now ...

In all honesty his comments during this interview are relatively benign. He didn't 'open up' on Trump.

But they are more critical than anything he ever said about Obama.

How does this explain GW's criticizing the current sitting POTUS?

Reagan DID make appearances with Trump.

He's a new playtoy for you fellas (and TOS) to swat around for a while.

Were Reagan alive and made some comment about Trump you'd attack him too.

Another fake conservative smoked out. Did W say one word critical of Obama? Ever?

Who said he was a conservative?  I like the guy, but we knew way back that he was no conservative.

Thinking, perhaps, it was the manner in which Jeb Bush was defeated in his run at the nomination.

George W. Bush opens up on Trump's war with the media, Russia and travel ban

http://www.today.com/news/george-w-bush-opens-trump-s-war-media-russia-travel-t108627

In a wide-ranging interview that shied away from directly criticizing the current commander in chief, former President George W. Bush said it's critical for the media to hold accountable “people who abuse their power." He also said he favored an immigration policy that was more "welcoming."

snip
------------------------------------------------

hmmmmmm

I didn't see it and I'm not gonna go crazy here but if he did favor a more welcoming immigration party, then I have to say I'm disappointed.

I'm also disappointed that he never criticized Obama but I thought it was part of his mindset that one doesn't criticize the president.  I hope we're over-reacting here.

@Emjay, while GW didn't reach the levels that 0 did, he was always an open borders guy, even when he was Texas Governor.

Yup he was.  I always thought it was because of Jeb's wife.

Just heard his soundbyte on talk radio and he basically said we need the media to hold people 'like him' accountable.  Like.... when Dan Rather held him accountable for having been AWOL...?   Bush is another sellout.  I voted for him twice.   He let us down, just as his father did.
