Trump looks very conservative doing this. He called the media the problem and being consistent with that, he is choosing to not bolster their cred with his presence.

If he were to attend this completely self congratulatory'Look at me event and give them credence/legitimacy with his presence as President, it would thoroughly undermine his factual assertions about their ongoing behavior.

Apparently at CPAC, Bannon was interviewed and said the old guard wouldn't relinquish power without a fight.

We are witnessing that fight. The establishment media hates Trump and what he stands for (we the people) and they try to do whatever they can, to prevent this President from using his power, to work for us.

He is not playing by their rules. And I like it.

Last president to skip was Reagan because he got shot.

Trump looks like a baby with this.

Agreed.  The press was merciless toward President Bush 43, but he still attended.  Why can't Trump put on his big boy pants and go?

He only wants a press that sucks up to him.  Hate to tell him, but when the Founders established freedom of the press, they did not say it would apply only to a press that is favorable to the president.

Hate to tell you but when the Founders established freedom of the press they meant for that freedom to be for all of us and not just a privileged caste.

Roasting the President in absentia will not be easy---and will likely be seen as nasty and disrespectful by the masses.

The selected "comedian" and the media elites are now in quite a box.   ^-^

@Applewood

Remember, Trump wants new laws passed so he can sue the press that doesn't treat him "fairly" (he is the one who will decide what is "fair").

Trump lies so much, no one can keep up with his trail of lies.  Lies tend to get press coverage.

The babies are the Trump fans who can't stand to see someone have a different opinion.  God forbid anyone would say anything negative about Trump.

In that respect, Trump fans are just like their hero.  Maybe worse.

Trump should go. He'd be a hit.

If Trump can keep us safe, free, and prosperous, I'm with him. And so far, he seems on that path. But to you Trump cultists, please cut the "more winning" garbage. I swear, if Trump took a dump on the desk in the Oval Office on TV, you guys would be cheering.

Mod hat off, of course.

New President, new media, new paradigm. Most conservatives are jubilant, that Trump isn't letting the liberal media set the agenda, with made up stories, etc.

For years one of the main topics of conversation between conservatives has been how bad the MSM is but now that we 'have a presidend actually trying to DO someting about that many of the same people are having cows over it.  Could it be tha many who have claimed to be conservative for all that time actually aren't?
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

The media literally walked all over W, and he had zero fight back.

Result by the end of W? Lost the Presidency, the Senate and the House.

What a dumb statement. Reagan would go and make mince meat out of them all with a smile on his face AND DID.

All the work of Karl Rove and Karen Hughes. Not that it matters now.

I used to just cringe when his Press Secretary Scott McClellan did a media appearance.

I never made any claim Trump was remotely like Reagan - but a good number of people here did.

We'll see what actually happens. Being a loose cannon and having to constantly reexplain/rebuild what you didn't intend on destroying rarely works. Neither does retreating.

Several people have remarked recently that this is the most conservative cabinet, in memory.

I am still trying to find "press conferences" and "press correspondents' dinner" in the Constitution.

I did read in the history of the White House Press Corps, that Teddy Roosevelt invited them inside on a rainy day, when they were gathered in a gaggle outside.

Respectfully disagree.

35 years ago, the MSM just had a liberal bias

Now the MSM is actively at war with Trump, conservatives, and the entire GOP for that matter.

I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.
