President Trump announced Saturday he will not be attending this year's White House Correspondents' Association dinner, a break with past presidents.

"I will not be attending the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner this year. Please wish everyone well and have a great evening!" Trump tweeted.

The jokes at his expense will flow like the liquor.  I don't blame him for not going.  Unless there is a clear and compelling reason to go, to heck with 'em.

Does the Dinosaur Media even matter anymore? The internet is to the point that they're getting to be a rock in the river - the water is just flowing around them. To me it's time to bury them in the boneyard of history.

Not to me they don't. I know what they will say about anything before they say it.

"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Now, that made me smile.  What a hoot that would be if he made a talk like presidents have done in the past.

That is exactly the point that Trump is driving home. This is just another way to exemplify the irrelevance of the old-school media establishment.

They can pat themselves on the back and laugh at each other's lame jokes all they want to. But it is ridiculous to think that Trump will be a part of it. He knows it is gallows humor. Trump knows that the MSM is just whistling through the graveyard.

You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

The only reason they matter at all is people stupidly keep consuming/paying for their product. Realistically, the MSM now reports almost exclusively on what Trump said on Twitter or what someone posted about it on Facebook. Twitter/Facebook/Internet outlets are their sources for everything today. We can go see that at the source ourselves so the MSM no longer has a point.

Yep!  More and more people ARE refusing to purchase their product and they don't like it one bit.

This is a good decision by Trump.  Trump knows (or should by now) that all the left is going to do is continue to try to bait him into losing his cool and saying or doing something they can use against him.   And Lord knows, he already does enough of that without their help.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/donald-trump-says-he-will-not-attend-white-house-correspondents-dinner-979943

Trump's decision comes after CNN, The New York Times, Politico and several other major media outlets were blocked from attending a Friday White House press briefing. The president also continued to express his dislike for "fake news" media and targeted reporters' use of anonymous sources while speaking to the Conservative Political Action Committee on Friday.

White House Correspondents' Association president Jeff Mason said in a statement that the group has noted Trump's announcement and is still looking forward to the April 29 dinner, "which has been and will continue to be a celebration of the First Amendment and the important role played by an independent news media in a healthy republic.

"We look forward to shining a spotlight at the dinner on some of the best political journalism of the past year and recognizing the promising students who represent the next generation of our profession," the statement concludes.

Trump should stay away.  He has no sense of humor and would be a wet blanket to put a damper on the festivities.

Now I do like the idea of Baldwin doing his Trump imitation.  That would be fun.

@LonestarDream :

What winning?  All Trump is doing is showing what a big baby he is.  I don't call that winning.  I call that being childish.

Childish would be a bunch of yellow journalists celebrating their accomplishments against America and patting themselves on the back for it. Blatant stupidity would be defending them for doing it.

Fan-frickin-tastic!  That dinner should have been ended long ago.

I was furious this man won the nomination and was not sure if I could bring myself to vote for him.  Now I could not be happier.  He has proven my doubts about him to be wrong time and time again.

Way to go President Trump!  Nice thumb in the eye to the Liberal Enemedia!

I think you're right but we'll have to wait and see. I'm all for a free press but don't see that several corporate entities should be considered 'the press.' A news cartel was surely not what the writers of the Constitution had in mind.
