U.S. Veterans Just Turned Against Donald Trump & It Is Going Viral

Ignore the headline. It's unsupported by the article and I'd change it if we were allowed to do so.

Just when you thought that it couldn’t get any worse, among the many personal implications of Trump’s breakneck rush to implement the most radical parts of his agenda sits the fact that the Veterans Administration (VA) has been forbidden from hiring any new medical staff for the indefinite future.

This hiring freeze at the VA is part of the total hiring freeze on every federal agency, except the military and the U.S. Forest Service. Trump signed that hiring freeze into law on January 23.

Now, the VA provides crucial, life saving medical services to countless veterans who, due to cost constraints, wouldn’t be able to get that medical care elsewhere. At least, providing such medical care is what the agency is supposed to do, but in many cases in years past the agency has come up short in terms of actually fulfilling the need that exists.

There are many, many such stories out there of the VA miserably failing veterans who need medical care, such as the time(s) that a veteran killed himself outside a VA hospital while waiting for care. Just Google “VA horror stories” and you’ll see.

At present, with the federal hiring freeze having taken effect, the prospects for any sort of short term improvement in the way that the VA health system cares for this nation’s ailing veterans is completely shot.

The veterans’ issues advocacy group VoteVets issued a statement slamming the Trump administration for the impact that Trump’s brazen executive order may have on the VA, writing, bluntly:

    ‘If his Executive Order leads to preventable deaths, that will be on Donald Trump’s hands, and we will hold him personally accountable.’

Another aspect to the hiring freeze executive order’s impact on the community of American veterans is that federal jobs are a “prime destination” for unemployed vets, with the VoteVets statement on Trump’s relevant executive order thus noting:

    ‘[F]or those unemployed veterans seeking work, Federal jobs are a prime destination, thanks to a 2009 executive order signed by President Barack Obama, establishing the Veterans Employment Initiative. That order instructed agencies to identify and hire qualified veterans for job openings. Trump’s hiring freeze means no jobs are now open for veterans at affected agencies.’

If its true that the EO is putting Veterans at risk then they have become victims of Trumps haphazard leadership.  He came into the job like a bull out of the gate.  Charging ahead with bad judgment.  He didn't think things through.  Maybe didn't even consult the right people who could look at this stuff so that when it was implemented it would work and have the intended outcome.

Its just like the ban.  That was a poorly thought out ban on immigration.  Its so simple.  Yes there are terrorists in those countries and many, many more.

I find it ironic that the Dims are demanding that the VA be excluded from that hiring freeze.... as if they really cared.... since, most of the abuses and deaths occurred on their watch over the past eight years.  As usual, the Democrats lie, obfuscate and pretend that they are the ones that care about US Vets.... when just the opposite is the case.

And I see that Trump has already exempted the new VA hospital in Aurora, Colorado.  I suspect that more VA hospitals will be exempted, as well.

Some of these new employees — such as doctors and nurses — likely would have been exempt anyway, because the hiring freeze made exceptions for positions “necessary to meet national security or public safety responsibilities.”
