Trump wanted to move U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem at “12:01” on Inauguration Day

During his presidential campaign, Donald Trump curried favor with Jewish voters by pledging to relocate the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. The promise was one Trump intended to make good on immediately, Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) said in an interview with Politico Monday.

According to Corker, relocating the Embassy was intended to be one of the Trump administration’s first actions, taking place “at 12:01 on January 20th. Maybe even 12 and thirty seconds.”

The plan was delayed, however, as the Trump administration gained what Corker described as “a greater sense of some of the complexities that exist.”
