Not so fast on that Trump endorses the 'Gang of Eight' story

The reporters are at it again.

President Trump didn't quite say this week that he is ready to get behind the "Gang of Eight" immigration bill, despite suggestions to the contrary. As it turns out, the actual facts of the matter are a bit more boring than journalists made it sound Thursday afternoon.

This particular overhyped news cycle originates with Politico's Seung Min Kim, who tweeted at 2:42 pm:

!!!Trump told senators he is open to Gang of 8 immigration bill, per [Sen. Joe Manchin, D.W.V.]. [Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn.] brought it up during meeting and need for reform.
