Tom Cotton emerged as one of Trumpism’s leading voicesBy Chris Cillizza February 7Had Donald Trump lost the 2o16 election — as everyone expected him to do — Tom Cotton would be spending lots of time right now in Iowa and New Hampshire. The freshman senator from Arkansas was being touted pre-election as the next great national candidate for the GOP and he seemed more than willing to assume that mantle.But then Trump won. And the Republican dream of Cotton leading the party's ticket in 2020 disappeared.What's fascinating is how Cotton has adjusted since Trump's victory. He has emerged as a sort of heir to the populist, America-first agenda commonly referred to as Trumpism. The latest evidence: Cotton's legislation, introduced Tuesday along with Sen.
