By Elliot Smilowitz - 02/09/17 08:59 AM EST
Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange (R) was named to the U.S. Senate on Thursday morning, replacing Jeff Sessions.
Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley (R) appointed Strange just hours after Sessions was confirmed by the Senate to be the U.S. attorney general, the Associated Press reported. Sessions will be sworn in Thursday morning.
