If he does that, then I'm just about done with Trump.

And it will no one's fault but Trump's if this happens.  The Dems won't have lifted a finger in real opposition and they'll have scored their first victory thanks to a 140 character tantrum.

Maybe Gorsuch actually wants to get confirmed and/or he believes what he says.

What came to mind for me was the judge, picking an artful word, to both register a concern, yet stop right there.

If it got really, really hot or cold, it might be described as "disheartening," but not the end of the world, or reason to withdraw from consideration.

Agreed.

Don't trust ANYTHING Blumenthal says (he's my senator, sorry to say).

So the fact that an aide to Gorsuch verifies the conversation means nothing?

As I've said before this is an excellent pick if you want a Conservative jurist. If you want a Conservative political activist who also happens to be a judge then folks are going to be disappointed. In other words if you like Roberts you will likely like Gorsuch...

Good insight.  I agree.  And I also like the kind of jurist that Roberts is.   He knows the Court's role and its limitations.   Balls and strikes.

If he supposedly knows the courts limitations please explain why he unilaterally chose to rewrite a piece of legislation before him in order to make a favorable ruling on it?

That's not calling balls and strikes that's making up the rules as you go.

Laura ingraham seems to think it's a true story.

As I've said before there are some here that dismiss anything as fake or a lie without ever checking for themselves based solely on the fact it makes Trump look bad or like he made a mistake.

It was intentional manipulation to start calling it all fake news and it worked. Its the same alinskyite tactic as using the term "So called judges" to minimize and delegitimize them. Its all about making Trump the ultimate authority on all things no matter how wrong he is or how big the lie he tells.

He's a political Jim Jones and had gotten people to abandon conservatism the same way Jim Jones got people to abandon their families..

What is the mistake that Trump has made here?

It is unseemly to issue implied threats to judges who will be deciding future cases.  You deplored it when Obama did it - why not here?

Trump's got to give up the tweets.   Or he's going to be impeached over some damn fool thing he says.

Well Gorsuch certainly didn't help his case for confirmation.

Supreme Court Nominee Neil Gorsuch Calls Trump’s Comments on Judiciary ‘Demoralizing’

Comment made in closed-door meeting with Sen. Richard Blumenthal, confirmed by confirmation team

By Beth Reinhard and
Rebecca Ballhaus
Updated Feb. 9, 2017 7:38 a.m. ET

WASHINGTON—Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch on Wednesday called President Donald Trump’s recent attacks on the judiciary “demoralizing and disheartening” in a closed-door meeting with Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D., Conn.), the senator said.

The remarks were confirmed by the team charged with ensuring the judge’s confirmation.

Mr. Blumenthal, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the former Connecticut attorney general, said he asked Judge Gorsuch to respond to Mr. Trump’s recent outbursts after a federal judge temporarily blocked his executive order to suspend entry of travelers from seven majority-Muslim countries out of national-security concerns.

“He said [the attacks] were demoralizing and disheartening—those were his words,” Sen. Blumenthal told reporters in a conference call. “I believe he has an obligation to make his views known more explicitly and unequivocally to the American people.”

On Thursday morning, Mr. Trump attacked Mr. Blumenthal’s credibility, referring to an episode that briefly threatened to upend his 2010 Senate race.

“Sen. Richard Blumenthal, who never fought in Vietnam when he said for years he had (major lie), now misrepresents what Judge Gorsuch told him?” he wrote.

In his 2010 race, Mr. Blumenthal was roundly criticized for indicating in public appearances that he had served in Vietnam when he was a Marine Corps reservist who stayed in the U.S. during the war.

Mr. Blumenthal’s Senate office didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

The comments came ahead of Wednesday night’s confirmation of Mr. Trump’s choice for attorney general, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.). Mr. Sessions will be in charge of defending the president’s executive orders and other administration actions.

Democrats are seeking to use the confirmation process of Judge Gorsuch, currently a member of the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver, to highlight Mr. Trump’s attacks and affirm the independence of the judiciary.

Another epic Trump f'k up.  Things are pretty damned effed when you have to say that the president who nominated you is a stupid jacka$$.

For every good thing Trump does, he does at least two epically stupid things, more than wiping out the benefit of that one good thing.

The odds on Gorsuch being confirmed just dropped, precipitously.

Because he didn't rewrite it.  He interpreted it according to its substance.  That is precisely what judges do.  It is precisely what judges are supposed to do.

Uh-huh.  You think Trump would tweet confirming it?

I'll wait to see the retraction by the WSJ first.
