I would say she's being overly dramatic, except she isn't.  This is France's last chance to save itself from the long term fate of losing its European, western democratic heritage.

The first round of the election will be held April 23. If no candidate gets more than 50% of the vote, a runoff will be held on May 7.

This may be as fun as our election.
