Village Magazine Cover Shows Gun Target on Pres. Trump's Head
Fox News Insider, Feb 3, 2017

The February cover of Ireland's Village Magazine has sparked outrage after portraying President Donald Trump's head with a sniper target locked on it.

The cover, which was revealed on Twitter Friday, reads "WHY NOT."

Village is a left-leaning monthly publication that dubs itself "Ireland's political and cultural magazine."

An article in the magazine reads:

Quote
"So what is to be done? We have one of the worst men in the most powerful position, one where he can do damage to millions, to billions, to the planet.

"So perhaps the solution is tyrannicide. As he might say himself -- 'take him out.'

"Tyrannicide has had support from various philosophers and theologians through the centuries, including the ancient Greeks and Romans."

The article concludes, however, that killing Trump would be wrong.

The cover story has received fierce backlash on social media.

That's despicable, that Village Mag is from Ireland if I have that correctly and Trump may well be invited to Ireland I was reading somewhere, this forum or the news.  One of those things to forget and imagine if this was done to ding-a-ling.

I'm really getting disgusted that the Secret Service isn't putting the fear of God in these people.

What the hell is wrong with the Secret Service?  Do they not understand if they don't hammer these people publicly it is going to encourage more and worse?

This is Ireland. Could be a good thing if the Irish people start losing their love for the lefties.

Republic of Ireland would not fight to oppose Hitler's Germany either.

I saw that it was,  but the point remains.  Too many people are getting away with veiled threats instead of being brought in for questioning,  perhaps being held on charges.

Anti-British sentiment ran strong in that period. Nonetheless, many Irishmen defied their government to join the British forces. My understanding is that they were mostly ostracized upon their return. As Trump might say, sad.

Much like Canada and Vietnam where Canadians defied their government:

"In counter-current to the movement of American draft-dodgers and deserters to Canada, about 30,000 Canadians volunteered to fight in southeast Asia.[36]"

Not to get technical, but that isn't a "gun target", but rather an artist's conception of mil dot crosshairs from a rifle scope or sighting device which would indicate the person in the picture was the actual target.

Anyone recall the outrage over this?

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
