The issue is the right to speak and the right to attend a speech without having your head bashed in..

Simple, right?

I guess not.

He's nothing but trash.

In one of several interviews with "Sargon of Akad" (on Youtube, I don't have the URL handy) it was rather enlightening to hear him discuss seducing his priest as a minor and brag about the oral sex skills he learned doing it.

The subject of the thread is about Jonah Goldberg's comments regarding Milo's nature.  Jonah said nothing to indicate he is against free speech, nor has anyone here.

His words:

"Jonah Goldberg: I think Milo is on cloud nine. He courts this kind of stuff. He feeds on it. He gets much more national exposure. He’s a parasitic relationship with these mobs. I’m sure he’s just delighted by all of it."

I agree with that.  He's saying that Milo thrives on the attention and the notoriety.

I think it's vice versa.....  and you've never seen them together in a picture, have you?

Please defend the wholesale corruption that set off the entire gamergate movement. And the SJW crusades that attempted to control or destroy several game companies  (ongoing to this day via Anita Sarkisian and her beta male cohort). Or the sex for good reviews practices. Or the people that the left tried destroying for exposing it.

Given the title of this thread Goldberg's comments can easily be construed as a tacit defense of the mobs actions. Perhaps it would've been better had he simply condemned the rioters, for whom there is utterly no defense, and saved his criticism for the 'attention whore' for some later article.

Which takes us back to the author of the OP -- the idiotic Jim Hoft, whose contextless recent offerings have a rather Yiannopoulus-like inflammatoriness of their own.

@CatherineofAragon

I just spend the better part of the day with my most liberal sister and I can confidently state that Milo can't stop baiting them any more than the left can resist being baited.

Both sides are out there daring the other side to shoot first with visions of glory but I wouldn't put money on either side for a sure win. The Chairborne rangers on the right talk tough but don't have what it takes to actually take to the streets for a real fight. The agitators on the left don't have any deficit of energy and seem to enjoy violence but lack direction.

I'd put my money on chaos to destroy all.

I didn't see the Goldberg interview. Did he go on Fox to discuss the riots and end up criticizing the cancelled speaker? If not then you are absolutely correct - his article is much hype about nothing.

Milo sounds like every leftist except from the other direction. No wonder establishment Republicans don't like him. He isn't quick to show his belly to the Democrats.

Rioting is not a valid response....ever. He wasn't "asking for it".

He includes a link to about a minute's worth of the Fox segment, and mostly it's Goldberg condemning the rioters and the lack of serious police response to them.

Might I point you back to your quote, to which I replied:

'We on the right' implies Milo is on the right, which he is not. At best, he is a big 'L' libertarian leaning toward anarchism.
So pardon my *yawn* as I do absolutely *nothing* to support him in his bomb-throwing dilemma.

As I said, call me when it's Ben Shapiro (an actual Conservative), and I'll be right there with you.

I never implied that Milo was on the right.  My point is, it doesn't matter.  Even aholes like Michael Moore get to pontificate without interference.  That's how it works in this country.  So far....

Perhaps he wasn't "asking for it."  But he's getting rich from it.

I agree that there's no defense for the rioters, but I don't agree that Jonah should have had to limit his own free speech.

The wording of the title was decided by the pro-Milo, anti-Goldberg site Gateway Pundit.  Clearly it's an attempt to further an agenda.  GP showed a snippet of the interview---the part about Milo---in order to label Jonah a "leftist."

Steve Hoft is a hack and he proved it with that edited video.

Here's more of the interview:

"UC-Berkeley Should Be Ashamed Of Itself"

It's worse than that.  Even the snippet on the GP site doesn't support Hoft's breathless outrage.

Calling people we don't agree with "leftists" is all the rage at GBR, I was called this just today.
