Legally you're right, and I'd have no problem with putting anyone who committed violence in jail for an extremely long time.

That being said, there's simply no denying what Jonah said here. Milo clearly goes out of this way to "piss off" the other side, rather than to simply make a good argument. Frankly I see a lot of this crap on the right lately. I see it on TOS all the time, they like such and such a person because he "makes liberals heads explode".

You would've hated colonial Boston pre-1775.

In this example, I'm saying that you don't have to hold a sign in front of a frenzied mob. To do so is crazy, risky, and stupid.

And what if you were already there holding up the sign ....let's say....a sign that upholds conservative thought and ideas.... and the frenzied mob just shows up.  Do you put away your signs and meekly slink away and thus, give the radical left (ie Soros & Co) what they want?   I wouldn't.  We've been slinking away like that for decades (haven't won a war for decades) due to the ball-less state of our leaders and due also to political correctness.  That has to stop or like I said, we will lose this undeclared war.

I bet if you personally polled most Americans on this issue...they would agree with me on this.

You know why Twitter banned him, right?

I knew he got banned...I know he tried to make excuses for why it happened...but I don't know the details of what he did.

It's a permanent ban right?

He defended gamergate when they were doxxing women.  That's over the line for me.

So what was the thinking among the Berkeley PTBs to have this guy speak there?  Did they anticipate what happened and count on it?  Was it a set up or planned?  One wonders.

Yes, it's permanent.  He was harassing a black actress; I don't remember her name.  He said she looked like an ugly black dude, if I recall, and his little followers ramped it up a few notches and called her a "gorilla."

@XenaLee

That's a good question.

I think the way those animals at Berkeley reacted was reprehensible, but I do agree with Goldberg that Milo is enjoying the notoriety.

Can you provide more sources?

I went to Wiki (not historically sympathetic the 'right wingers') and all I could find was a reference to Milo, in defense of the larger issue of journalistic bias against the gaming community (not the original impetus for the movement, which did involve smearing several women) publishing a private list of journalist, gender unspecified, email addresses who typically report on gamer issues in order to make a case of collusion.

Good thing he didn't call her a Wookie or he'd be in real trouble, sure.

Felicia day talks about getting doxxed because of gamergate in her book "You're never weird on the internet, almost".

Lest we forget, Gamergate was an online movement that effectively began because a man wanted to punish his ex girlfriend. Its most notable achievement was harassing a large number of progressive figures - mostly women – to the point where they felt unsafe or considered leaving the industry. Game developer Zoe Quinn was the original target. Anita Sarkeesian’s videos applying basic feminist theory to video games had already made her a target (because so many people have a difficulty differentiating cultural criticism from censorship) but this hate was powerfully amplified by Gamergate – leading to death threats, rape threats, and the public leaking of personal information. Other notable targets included developer Brianna Wu, actor Felicia Day, and prominent tech-culture writer Leigh Alexander.

Sad is the right word;  Milo is so fabulous he wouldn't deign to speak to a lot of the people who now love him.  I've known gay guys just like him.

Not at all.  He's simply been paying attention to Milo's behavior on social media.

Thanks, I've seen this.

Did you read txradioguys LA Times article? If this is the extent of Yiannopoulos' involvement with the gamergate 'scandal' then I really don't see his behavior as objectionable.

No, actually....it doesn't.  Has nothing to do with who or what Milo represents as long as all he is doing is speaking and not inciting violence.

Might I point you back to your quote, to which I replied:
Quote
Quote from: XenaLee on Today at 03:00:21 PM

And what is the ultimate alternative to 'courting confrontation' (ie speaking up and speaking out and exercising one's free speech even if/when it goes against the radical leftist agenda)?  You think we on the right should just back off and back away and let them have their way from now on? This is a war we're in, albeit an unofficial undeclared war.  They are the enemy within and if we just shut up and let them have their say and their way....  we will lose the war.  Not just no, but HELL NO.

'We on the right' implies Milo is on the right, which he is not. At best, he is a big 'L' libertarian leaning toward anarchism.
So pardon my *yawn* as I do absolutely *nothing* to support him in his bomb-throwing dilemma.

As I said, call me when it's Ben Shapiro (an actual Conservative), and I'll be right there with you.

Have you ever actually listened to Milo Yannapoulis?  He does, indeed thrive on this stuff.  Doesn't remotely excuse the leftist response, but his schtick is indeed designed to incite them.

He's nothing but trash.

That's right. He's a pot stirrer, he likes being non-politically correct, but conservative?  No.

Yes, he has a right to free speech and that should be defended.  But Milo the person is pretty indefensible.  A few days ago he posted an Instagram photo of his upraised arm and fist, painted with fake blood to the elbow.

I'll say no more and let people make their conclusions.

@CatherineofAragon

Yup. The problem with being foremost an attention whore is that you get attention. Having made his bed, he can lie in it.

You really need to read up on the events surrounding that. It isn't a cut and dry doxxing as the media claimed.
