Two Democratic lawmakers have put forward bill that would take away President Trump's access to the nuclear codes.

The new law, introduced by Senator Edward Markey of Massachusetts and Rep. Ted Lieu of California, would prevent the President from launching nuclear weapons without first a obtaining a congressional declaration of war.

Under current legislation, the US president can launch a nuclear strike regardless of whether or not America is under attack.

In a statement, Markey said that nuclear war is the 'gravest risk to human survival,' and expressed concerns about Trump having access to the nuclear button.

After introducing the bill Markey said he was concerned by Trump's past assertions that he would consider using nuclear weapons against terrorists.

  • I don't believe in Trump anymore, he's an illusion
So these mamons want America to be a catcher and never a pitcher? In what reality do these clowns think there is time to take a vote on a nuclear response? :nono:

  • Cats rule. Dogs drool.
Can someone remind these dipshit Dems that Bill Clinton lost the codes for months!

Not a whole lot of wiggle room to talk about responsible behavior there, is there.

OH, NO! Nuclear Doomsday Clock Just Got Moved Closer To Midnight

Posted at 9:00 pm on January 26, 2017 by Susan Wright

Who’s up for a little apocalypse party?

Ok. I probably shouldn’t make light of things like a nuclear holocaust, wiping out all of humanity, save for the Kardashians.

USA Today is reporting that scientists have moved the hands of the Doomsday Clock a little bit closer to midnight.

Each year, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, a nonprofit that sets the clock, decides whether the events of the previous year pushed humanity closer or further from destruction. The symbolic clock is now two-and-a-half minutes from midnight, the closest it’s been to midnight since 1953, when the hydrogen bomb was first tested.  Scientists blamed a cocktail of threats ranging from dangerous political rhetoric to the potential of nuclear threat as the catalyst for moving the clock closer towards doomsday.

Quote
“This year’s Clock deliberations felt more urgent than usual…as trusted sources of information came under attack, fake news was on the rise, and words were used by a President-elect of the United States in cavalier and often reckless ways to address the twin threats of nuclear weapons and climate change,” Rachel Bronson, the executive director and publisher of Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, said in a statement.

I knew we had a lot of screwed up people living in this country but it wasn't until this election that I have realized just how many there actually are.  If we can't fix it soon that is what is going to be our ultimate downfall, not nuclear war.

Does anyone know if President Trump will sign this?
