Wisconsin Family Threatened In Epic Misunderstanding Over Nazi Flag
A family didn’t fly the flag, but after a mistake on Facebook, they’ve been targeted with so much hate they want to leave the neighborhood.
By Beth Dalbey (Patch Staff) - January 26, 2017 8:09 am ET

In the few days since the neighbor living in the other half of her Oshkosh, Wisconsin, duplex raised a Nazi flag, life has been impossible to fathom for Rosangela Diaz and her family, though they had nothing to do with the emblem of white supremacy — and don’t even look the part of people who would. Rosa is a fifth-generation American of Puerto Rican descent; her husband, Jeremy, is African-American.

Still, stacks of hate mail have arrived at their home since the hateful emblem was hung outside the neighbor’s door last Friday. The windshield was broken on Rosa’s car, and the tires were flattened. The Diazes have received death threats on social media. With no return address but an out-of-state ZIP code stamped in the postage field, a mysterious package arrived at their home Wednesday. Rosa and Jeremy won’t allow their four active sons to play outside, as they desperately want to do, because they’re afraid someone will call the boys Nazis, as happened a few days ago to their oldest sons, ages 11 and 8.

Somebody tell me if I have this wrong: the left-leaning neighbor posted a nazi flag to show his disapproval of the new president, and now other tolerant left-leaning types are terrorizing this family even though they're not the ones who flew the national socialist flag?

Pretty much. Could have been worse. Could have been a Confederate flag.

yep

The duplex where the Diazes live fronts two streets, so the two tenants technically live on different streets, though they occupy the same dwelling. A passerby noticed the neighbor’s Nazi flag on Friday, snapped a picture and posted it on Facebook with the address — the incorrect one, the one on Diaz’s street

How awful for this family.  :(

Don't matter to the idiots doing it. Don't matter even though they know they got the wrong person now. It's for justice.

What a knucklehead the one who flew the flag is; we have free speech so, there probably are not any crimes involved but....

What's next? Someone protests racism by wearing a Klan costume?

The story insinuates that the neighbor did this to protest the inauguration of Trump but they couldn't even find the guy to talk to him from what I understand. Maybe we don't have the whole story.

As a side note . . .

Curt Schilling was a major league pitcher who had been doing broadcasting at ESPN for years.  He was well known for his no nonsense viewpoints.

Roughly a year ago Schilling was doing a radio interview when the topic turned to politics, and eventually to ISIS.  Schilling made a statement that went something like, "We haven't seen this type of barbarism since Nazi Germany."

Which was a true statement - ESPN fired him anyway.  For that reason, and others, I boycott ESPN, Disney and their associated companies.

Saw an article that Curt Schilling is probably being kept out of the HOF because of his views. Will post this weekend. We can talk about him. I agree, it is very disappointing about ESPN; they need to get off that.  I don't like NBC either; these places show sports events but in general, I never watch tv shows of these networks or much tv at all. ESPN also booted Rush years ago.

So, they get the boot back; it's one thing to have differing opinions, it's another to be intolerable oneself.

I know I'm veering off sideways in this thread, but one more comment on ESPN.  "They won't miss me", was my thought when I decided to boycott them and Disney.  Apparently, ESPN is missing a lot of viewers as they have taken the ax to much of their long standing talent.  Tom Jackson, for example, was always one of my favorites.  He told them to get lost when they wanted to cut his salary way back, as they've done with many others.  It's obvious ESPN is cutting costs due to declining revenues.

Sometimes it has an effect when you vote with your wallet (or viewership).

There's a thread in the sports/entertainment section of the forum about how ESPN has gone off the rails with its political nonsense.

So the flag flyer did it to protest Trump... So would I be correct to assume this guy is just your average everyday progressive liberal democrat that happens to have a Nazi Flag laying around the house ready to post at moments notice.

You mean, you don't keep one handy?  :tongue2:

Full disclosure: I do not nor ever will have any Nazi paraphernalia around the house. My grandfather would rise from his grave and beat the everloving shit out of me for that. I do, however, have an ISIS flag. It's owner had no more use for it.

So, a liberal flies a NAZI flag to protest Trump's election.  A bunch of liberals online hyperventilate over the presence of a swastika,  and flood the wrong person with hate mail.  I can only hope that the lady receiving the hate mail is liberal too, so that the episode justly demonstrate the stupidity of liberals, and every liberal gets exactly what they deserve out of the episode.

This whole PC stuff is getting ridiculous.

I have a new neighbor who happens to be Chinese. She put up a Chinese New Years flag on her door yesterday for today's Chinese New Year.

One of my other neighbors who recently came from India complained to management. She took it down.

I thought it was pretty.

I'm waiting for this winter for this neighbor to start complaining about holiday lights outside on our balconies, etc.

Sigh.

Liberals Hang A Nazi Flag To Protest Trump And It Backfires In A Big Way

January 27, 2017| by Brian Anderson

Liberals have always been crazy, but Donald Trump’s election has pushed them over the cliff. Some lefty agitators in Wisconsin hung a Nazi flag that they say was to protest Trump, but didn’t make that very clear. As a result, other angry liberals have been threatening an innocent family with violence. Who could have ever imagined an out-of-context Nazi flag would cause so much trouble?

Fox News reports on this ridiculous protest and its “unforeseen” consequences:

What idiot puts a nazi flag outside their house expecting people will not assume they're nazis? Oh, liberals of course. What was I thinking....liberals are always doing stupid stunts like this one and getting innocent people hurt in the process.
