She's not one of his detail.

That part in this case is irrelevant.  What is she's in a field office or on the advance team that goes ahead of the POTUS to set up security where he's visiting?

Would you want her making sure everything is safe for you with that kind of attitude?

I was criticising the overdramatic headline - guess two threads got merged.

Washington (CNN)The Secret Service said Tuesday it is taking "appropriate action" after one of its agents suggested on Facebook that she would not defend President Donald Trump should someone try to shoot him.
Kerry O'Grady, a senior agent in the Denver field office, made a series of now-deleted postings on Facebook during the campaign saying that she supported Democrat Hillary Clinton and that she would not honor a federal law that prevents agents like her from airing their political beliefs publicly. O'Grady deleted the posts shortly after The Washington Examiner reported them on Tuesday.

"As a public servant for nearly 23 years, I struggle not to violate the Hatch Act. So I keep quiet and skirt the median," she wrote in one Facebook post, as reported by the Examiner. "To do otherwise can be a criminal offense for those in my position. Despite the fact that I am expected to take a bullet for both sides."

"But this world has changed and I have changed. And I would take jail time over a bullet or an endorsement for what I believe to be disaster to this country and the strong and amazing women and minorities who reside here. Hatch Act be damned. I am with Her," she wrote.
The Secret Service said in a statement Tuesday that it could not comment on a specific personnel matter but that it was "aware of the postings and the agency is taking quick and appropriate action."
"All Secret Service agents and employees are held to the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct," the agency said in a statement. "Any allegations of misconduct are taken seriously and swiftly investigated."
The postings were on O'Grady's personal account, noted a person familiar with the matter, but said the agency is trying to determine if she posted the information while she was working.
Reached on the phone, O'Grady on Tuesday declined to comment to CNN on the postings.
The person familiar with the matter told CNN that Secret Service officials are extremely disappointed with what the agent did, especially because the agency did a lot of good work with the campaign and inauguration.
Secret Service personnel on multiple occasions have rushed to protect Trump from threats during the campaign, including one incident in Reno in the final weekend before Election Day.

I recommend they don't look too closely. She looks like she'd file a harassment suit.

She is backtracking now,and saying that of course she would protect Trump.

She's lying. What she is interested in protecting is her retirement pension. If she gets fired, she loses it.

Secret Service agent wrote she wouldn't take a bullet for Trump

A senior U.S. Secret Service member suggested she would not take a bullet for President Trump in an October post on Facebook.

Kerry O’Grady said she would rather do “jail time” than take “a bullet” for Trump — who is a “disaster to this country,” she wrote in a post obtained by The Washington Examiner.

She also endorsed Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton for president.

In her post, O’Grady acknowledged that expressing her political beliefs on social media is a violation of the Hatch Act. The act prohibits executive branch members, excluding the president, vice president and other designed officials, from making partisan statements.

She won't get fired!  She will be allowed to quietly retire!

@Bigun

Sadly,I agree. Instead of being punished and being held responsible for breaking her legal contract with the SS,the one she took an oath to obey, she will end up being REWARDED instead of punished by retiring at full pension early instead of being fired and losing it all, which is what SHOULD have happened.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
It is difficult to fire Federal Employees, although that would be my first reaction.

However, the Secret Service also investigates counterfeiting, iirc.

Agent O'Grady, welcome to the counterfeiting division.

We have it an anonymous tip that there is a counterfeit one dollar bill somewhere at this location. It is your job to find it.

Please contact the office when you are successful.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
