SAGINAW (WWJ/AP) – A man whose drug-related prison sentence was commuted in November by President Barack Obama has been fatally shot at a federal halfway house in Michigan after two men with assault-style rifles sought him out, police said.

Two men wearing masks went into Bannum Place in Saginaw on Monday night with plans to kill 31-year-old Damarlon Thomas, a former Saginaw gang member. Lt. David Kaiser said Thomas was shot several times by one of the men as some of the roughly two dozen people at the home were held at gunpoint.

This proves conclusively drug dealers are not a threat to society and should be released from prison.  On the other hand, if you know anything about Skaginaw, Michigan you aren't surprised he would be murdered.  Its a liberal safe haven.

I think I once saw an article where Saginaw and Kalamazoo too; are listed as dangerous towns/cities.

Had the same thought with that Manning traitor that Obama wants to release. What good will it do to release him? Where will he go; what will he do?

What kind of life could he possibly live in or out of prison? Like the guy in the article, Manning may be better off to stay where he is.

Oof. All my siblings went to Calvin College in Ann Arbor... Can't say as I agree with folks thereabouts... My favorite part of it was maybe some 100 miles north... Some little podunk town I can't even remember the name of... Stopped at a diner there, and found good folks and sweet tea. Had a bunch of old folks out on the porch, and I sat out there after I got done with my burger, and had a high old time swappin lies about fishin'...

I live about equidistant from UofM, MSU, and Hillsdale college.

Of the 3 Lansing (MSU) is the high crime town but its a mixed crowd there. Hillsdale is still a farming community. Ann Arbor and K-Zoo are overloaded with overeducated academics but have relatively low crime.
