Pope Francis warned against populism, saying it could lead to the election of "saviours" like Hitler.

In an hour-long interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais conducted as Donald Trump was being sworn in as US president, the pontiff also condemned the idea of using walls and barbed wire to keep out foreigners.

"Of course crises provoke fears and worries," he said but added that for him "the example of populism in the European sense of the word is Germany in 1933.

Still waiting to hear the Pope condemn ISIS for genocide and slaughter of hundreds of thousands of Christians.


He is willing to condemn Global Warming.
He condemns capitalism.
He condemns Trump.


But he never says a word addressing the things that he is supposed to be concerned with, Christianity and the mass slaughter of Christians.


That's why I call him the Michael Moore Pope. He is interested in all the same things Moore is interested in, but religion not so much. He does what he is supposed to do, but only when he has to.

If one reads the article, he is only saying what history has shown.  When a country thinks it is in trouble, it elects a populist dictator.  That is what Germany did and what happened in this country with this election.

According to one of his ex-wives, he kept Hitler's book on his bedside table. This is not surprising.  Remember, he likes strong men to the max, as in Putin, and Hitler is akin to Putin in their mental thinking.

The Pope did say he would wait to see what Trump does.

Except this pope embraced Obama and Merkel as 'saviors', so his warning is just a political jab at the risk to Communism and Socialism that he thinks Trump and Brexit represents - and nothing more.
