You have terrorism now in places that never had it before.
In the past, when we saw terrorism, it might be in Israel, there were still events like the World Trade Center bombing in the early '90s or the Lockerbie flight.
But now, Germany, France, Belgium, Australia, Canada and the US, we see it everywhere. It has happened in England and Spain. Hearing about arrests of suspected terrorists is fairly common.
How bad does one expect it to get, if we just had our heads hidden in the sand like an ostrich. It's fairly clear cut.

The average Russian citizen still has to deal with quality of life issues, I think things can be worked out, raise the standard of living for the people, Russia won't be as much of a problem in other areas. Mutual benefits can probably be worked out in other cases, say with China.
