Too much of an adult question, for naïve Social Justice minds these days.

Project much?

His decision was based on a hideous "this will cost less than the alternative (invasion)" calculation, based on what we'd already experienced on Okinawa.

Hideous to base decisions on facts, in order to save American lives?

Do you propose we lose MORE American lives, in order to save more enemy lives?

It was NOT just Okinawa, but all of the islands.

You are probably too young to recall the characterization of the Japs as "fanatics."

So, in your view, what is an acceptable ratio of dead women and children to dead enemy soldiers in such campaigns?

When it comes to moslems kill every one. EVERY ONE.

Oh, really, son.  Must you inflict all of your little insecurities on the rest of us?

"I see.  And how does that differentiate you from the nice men from ISIS who think the same way?"

It doesn't.

The only way The West will overcome islam -- and WIN -- is to be as brutal or even more brutal towards them, as they are towards us.

There is no choice.
Well, more correctly, the other side has left us with no choice.

We could "choose" to be more humane.
We could choose restraint (as we have done to this point).
But then... we'll lose.
As The West is losing today.

Wouldn't it be great if things didn't have to be this way?
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could wage war gently, hoping that the other side would be similarly restrained?
Wouldn't it be great if we could ignore reality?

Actually, there is a choice.  You merely assume that bombs and destruction are the only way to "overcome Islam."  (I note you're not differentiating between ISIS and Islam in general -- not unexpected, coming from you.)

Those of us who are Christians can think of one different way; or, if religious conversion is not to your taste, then even a straightforward campaign oriented toward freeing the women in Islamic countries would change things utterly.
