Look, the electorate who put Trump in office didn't give two shakes about Trump's inability to keep his wedding vows or his hands off other mens wives, nor all the crass demonizations he offered throughout the campaign - so what does that tell us about the character of the people in this country?
It tells me that a person of Reagan's character and principles stands a snow cone's chance in a blast furnace of ever being elected to high office in this country.
This people wanted either a traitor and criminal grifter or a crass and bombastic egomaniac for their ruler. So we got the latter.
The country does not want the kind of principled Christian Conservatism you and I are governed by. They want what we got.
As such, Trump will get to skate on all his foibles as assuredly as Obama did among his acolytes and Conservatism as we once knew it gets relegated to irrelevance and extinction.
In that I only disagree that Trump will be allowed to skate. The liberals will fight any and all measures or policies, and failing that, the man himself, in a distraction to ensure as many of their policies remain in place as possible. Even the lie about the MLK Jr. bust being removed was intended to incite the usual suspects, and despite having been exposed as a lie, the mental image so readily accepted has been graven in that Trump is somehow anti-black.
This keeps the usual groups squarely on the Democrat plantation, as does the 'war on women' theme which has been revitalized in all this.
I'm not saying not to see Trump for what he is, but I would not lend one erg of my energy to supporting or appearing to support anything that will so blatantly be used by the Leftists to ensure the status quo under Obama continues.
For Trump to stand in front of the memorial wall in the CIA Atrium and get sidetracked about attendance numbers was just stupid--not to mention disrespectful of the operatives who lost their lives in operations still so secret their names aren't even up there. It doesn't fricking matter if the whole ceremony only played out to security forces and a few hot dog vendors, he is POTUS now, and it's time to act like it.
Conspicuous whiners and protesters will be the order of the day, as they ever have been. You didn't see it with Obama because it was not reported (recall the TEA Party marches over a million strong reported as "thousands" of people..).
