Customers at a restaurant in Virginia are rallying to support a black waitress who received a a racist note instead of a tip at the weekend.

Waitress Kelly Carter said a couple had written on the receipt: "Great service don't tip black people."

Owner Tommy Tellez told BBC News the response has been "phenomenal".

People have been dropping by the restaurant to give Ms Carter cash, Mr Tellez said, and a YouCaring campaign has raised over $300 (£245) for her.

Her regular customers have been dropping by to give her hugs.


'He only makes me stronger', Ms Carter says about the diner who left her the note.

I'll bet a dollar that by the weekend this will be exposed for the hoax that all of these stories end up being. Remember the gay waitress who had the nasty note on the bill? FAKE How about the one about the gay guy who got a cake at a chain store with anti gay stuff on it? HOAX. Burned church with Trump spray painted on it? HOAX muslim broad getting her hijab grabbed by "Trump Supporters"? Hoax.

Anyone really believe a couple in their 20's did this? I sure as hell don't.

Even if it were true how does something so mundane & local get reported in an international publication? So there's a bigot who doesn't tip people of color out there.

While I hesitate to dismiss this kind of story out of hand, I have to wonder why it is that this particular couple that doesn't tip black people -- and is sufficiently proud of that fact that they actually write it on checks -- only managed to be discovered now.  I mean, you'd think they'd have done this elsewhere, and someone would have said something before.
