Police officer shot dead outside Orlando Walmart; suspect on the run

DEVELOPING –  A wanted murder suspect accused of shooting an Orlando police officer as many as nine times outside a Walmart was on the run Monday as medics raced to save the officer's life.

The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Markeith Loyd, was accused of murdering his pregnant girlfriend last month, Fox 35 reported. The officer's heart reportedly stopped while paramedics were racing her to Orlando Regional Medical Center -- but they were able to get it started again.

Loyd was wearing a security uniform at the time of Monday's shooting, a witness told WFTV.

Hero Down: Orange County Deputy Killed
By Officer Blue On January 9, 2017
Blue Lives Matter

Orlando, FL – An Orange County Deputy, who was responding on his motorcycle to the murder of Orlando Sergeant Debra Clayton, was killed when a vehicle pulled in front of him.

Sergeant Debra Clayton was killed at Walmart Monday morning.

According to WFTV9ABC, witness, James Herman, said that the shopper told her that a man who was wanted was inside the store, in one of the check out lines.  He said that he thought the Officer was going inside to confront the suspect, who was coming out the door at the same time.

James Herman also said he saw the suspect shoot the female Orlando Officer and thought he heard at least 12 shots.  He said “(The shooter) was an average looking dude, he walked by me, had a security vest and everything.  I was walking down the sidewalk, right past the officer, and I heard her tell him to stop, or whatever, and he shot her. He shot her down.  He took off running. It’s unreal.”  James Herman said that the man continued to shoot behind him as he was running from the scene.  He said that he hit the ground, and that he thought the suspect was a security guard for Walmart.

The unidentified Orange County Deputy on a motorcycle was looking for the suspect when a car pulled in front of him and the deputy died of his injuries. Sheriff Demings has not yet identified the deputy, but the deputy was described as a gentle giant of a man.

The suspect in the murder of Sergeant Debra Clayton, Markeith Loyd, is still at large and the manhunt is still in progress at the time of this writing.
