U.S. names bin Laden's son specially designated global terrorist

The State Department has sanctioned Hamza bin Laden, son of Osama bin Laden and a member of Al Qaeda, by naming him a specially designated global terrorist.

The announcement, released by the State Department on Thursday, signals that Americans are “generally prohibited from engaging in any transactions” with bin Laden, who initially was reported dead in the 2011 raid in Pakistan that killed his father but actually escaped. Bin Laden will also be denied access to the American financial system.
