Seems to me the man lived a full and successful life doing the things he loved doing. Good for him! We should all be so lucky.

Harriette Thompson, Oldest Woman to Finish a Marathon, Dies at 94
The concert pianist and late-in-life runner also set a half-marathon record in June.
By Sarah Lorge Butler Monday, October 16, 2017, 3:56 pm

Harriette Thompson, the irrepressible nonagenarian who in 2015 became the oldest woman to finish a marathon, died Monday in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was 94.

Thompson, a mother of five and a grandmother of 10, was injured in a fall on October 6, according to the Charlotte Observer. Her son, Brenneman Thompson, who ran alongside her during marathons, told the Observer she had been in hospice.

A two-time cancer survivor, Thompson was a regular at the San Diego Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon, running with Team in Training for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She started running the marathon in San Diego in 1999, and ran the race every year through 2015, except for 2003, when she was undergoing treatment for cancer. She raised more than $115,000 for cancer research through her efforts.    ...

Age 90+ + Falls= disaster.

Too bad science can't develop some kind of fall sensing bubble for at risk seniors.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

You know, if I live to be 94 and I'm that mobile- wow.

Personally I don't think I'd live that long.

@Freya

Living that  long and being able to run Marathons isn't as  remarkable as living that long and not getting lost along with way because he forgot where she is and what she was doing.

Gord Downie, lead singer of The Tragically Hip, dies at 53

Downie was the lead singer of The Tragically Hip, a band that only achieved minor success in the United States but became icons in their home country of Canada. The Hip's heyday came in the 1990s, when they charted a string of hits on Canada's pop and rock charts.

Downie had been diagnosed with terminal glioblastoma in 2016, and the band's farewell tour following the diagnosis earned widespread national attention, including the Hip's final concert being televised live across Canada.

. . . or a lot of what the Easybeats did, for AC/DC's entire lame catalog.

RIP, Mr. Young. It's a shame your excellent taste didn't rub off on your kid brothers.

Wow! I had forgotten how well he sang!

What year was that?

Classy guy. RIP.

Thanks! Absolutely outstanding!

He obviously took care of his voice.

He was 62 when that was recorded.

Fats Domino dies at 89

Antoine Domino, who spoke French as his native tongue, was born in Louisiana. In 1949, his record "The Fat Man" became a seminal song in the development of rock-and-roll; the record sold a million copies. Domino's heyday came in the mid-1950s as rock and roll entered the mainstream, with a cover of the 1940 song "Blueberry Hill" and his own compositions "Ain't That a Shame" and "I'm Walkin'" being some of his most enduring hits. Although he stopped charting hits when the British Invasion hit in 1964, Domino continued to tour extensively until about 1980, when he decided to retire to Louisiana.

Domino was erroneously believed dead when he decided to wait out Hurricane Katrina to tend to his ailing wife; he and his family in fact survived when he was rescued by helicopter. He suffered from various health issues in his last decade of life and died October 24.
