North Carolina: School district tries to defend pro-Islam vocabulary lesson

An update on Monday’s post, in case you missed it: Video: Pitt County, N.C. high school’s Common Core lessons promote Islam.

“You’re not in America anymore.” That’s what some high school seniors in Farmville, North Carolina, thought while working through their vocabulary assignment promoting the Muslim prophet Muhammad and other facets of Islamic religion. It was found to be within the standards of the Common Core.

With many students across America being told that the Bible and Christianity aren’t allowed inside public schools — which is an incorrect interpretation of the so-called “separation of church and state” — seniors at Farmville Central High were surprised to find their English lesson riddled with Islamic jargon … something they would expect in Iran or Afghanistan, but certainly not in the United States.
