This is a tough one. I've been a huge Thomas Sowell fan for forty years since I saw him on W. F. Buckley's "Firing Line" on public tv. I've also read several of his books. He was far more direct in his thoughts and explanations than someone like George Will who writes many times in a somewhat confusing style.
Sowell was one the few black writers who refused to blame America for black failure.
But he was not a black writer...he was a pro-American writer who happened to be black.
