Turkey claims Gulen link to envoy killing, Kremlin cautious
[AFP] Stuart WILLIAMS  December 21, 2016

Istanbul (AFP) - Turkish authorities were on Wednesday looking into claims the alleged mastermind of the failed July coup was involved in the assassination of Moscow's ambassador, but the Kremlin warned against jumping to conclusions.

Monday's murder of Andrei Karlov stunned Russia and prompted warnings of retribution from the Kremlin. But both sides responded by vowing to step up cooperation, particularly on the Syria conflict.

Off-duty Turkish policeman Mevlut Mert Altintas, 22, pumped nine bullets into Karlov at an art gallery in Ankara before he himself was killed by police in a shootout.

The pro-government press has repeatedly said that US-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen, who Ankara blames for the attempted putsch, was behind the assassination plot.

And Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told US counterpart John Kerry in a phone call on Tuesday that Ankara believed Gulen was involved.

It seems silly that Turkey would once again, scapegoat Gulen for this.

Center for Security Policy, Frank Gaffney Jr.'s organization don't like this guy; http://www.centerforsecuritypolicy.org/2015/12/18/book-release-the-gulen-movement-turkeys-islamic-supremacist-cult-and-its-contributions-to-the-civilization-jihad/  but scapegoating Gulen for all ills seems to be excessive. Gulen lives in the Poconos, Pa. for those who do not know, an armed compound allegedly.  In fact, it almost seems to be wildly irrational to make this accusation.

I've come to the conclusion that Fethullah Gülen is Turkish for "Emmanuel Goldstein."
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

The "coup" was fake, a pretext.

Turkey seems to use this group as a handy scapegoat.

Well played.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."
