‘NO FAR-RIGHT OR RADICAL ISLAMIC MOTIVE’ FOR ZURICH MOSQUE GUNMAN

Swiss police said they have found no sign of any radical Islamist or far-right motive by a gunman who killed himself after a shooting at a Zurich mosque which left three worshippers wounded.

Criminal police chief Christiane Lentjes Meili said investigations are continuing in connection with the 24-year-old Swiss citizen who was behind the shootings on Monday.

UPDATE 11:06 EST: Swiss cantonal police spokesmen Christiane Lentjes Meili told reporters Tuesday that the gunman, identified as a 24-year-old Swiss national of Ghanaian origin, had stabbed a Swiss national to death just a day earlier at a Zurich playground, and appeares to be obsessed with the occult.

Christiane Lentjes Meili: “We don’t know anything about the motives. But the shooter appeared to be deeply interested in the occult. Corresponding symbols have been found at his home.”
