Famous Turkish author of self-help books killed in armed attack in Istanbul

Imagine this; such an author, "self-help" books, looks more normal to our Western or American eyes, Rest In Peace. Perhaps they killed her because she was a female author? Bad no matter who gets killed but obviously, a planned type of assassination.

Beki İkala Erikli, a famous Turkish author of self-help books, was killed in an armed attack in Istanbul by an unidentified female assailant on late Dec. 15, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Erikli, particularly well-known for her book “Living with Angels,” was killed at the entrance of her office’s building in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul at 8 p.m.

She was reportedly shot by an unidentified woman while entering the lift of the building.

Locals who heard gunshots rushed to the scene and called the police and medics, but she died at the scene despite all medical interventions. The assailant fled the scene on foot after the attack.

Police opened an investigation following the incident and examined surveillance cameras close to the scene. Erikli’s body was taken to morgue after an initial medical examination.

 One of the witnesses close to the scene, Taci İnan, said he did not hear any gunshots.

So, the assailant must be the one on the left I assume.  The assailant does not appear from the photo to be dressed like a radical Muslim type, so who knows?

Sinem Koç, who murdered Beki İkala Erikli, a famous Turkish-Jewish author of self-help books, on Friday said she killed her in order to stop her from harming others through her books.

Erikli, particularly well known for her book “Living with Angels,” was gunned down by Koç at the entrance of her office building in the Beyoğlu district of İstanbul on Thursday evening.

Thirty-one-year-old Koç, who told police that she went insane after reading Erikli’s books, said: “She was talking about angels in her books. What angels? She is a devil herself. I killed her to prevent others from being harmed [by Erikli’s books].”

Koç was detained in front of her house in the Küçükçekmece district of İstanbul 26 hours after the incident. Police found the gun she used to kill Erikli in her car.

To me, she reminds me very much of Sandra Bullock. I couldn't find a good comparative photo but I think nonethless, they do imo.

One of the articles says she had a schizophrenic patient who threatened her. So, she seemed to be a bit of a psychologist at that.

In this video a few minutes in, about 6 minutes, it looks like she and the host on this Turkish News Program pray or try to channel their angels, they close their eyes. I tend to think, her writings are probably sort of new-age.

That's a bit of an odd set up in that Turkish studio.  Almost like the inside of a spaceship or something.
