Throttle blamed for Colorado jet crash near Obama appearance

The Associated Press 4 hrs ago 0

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A throttle malfunction on an Air Force Thunderbirds aerobatic demonstration jet is being blamed for the jet's crash last June near the Colorado Springs Airport where President Barack Obama was attending an event.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports (https://tinyurl.com/z2jjrpp ) the malfunction on the F-16 jet caused the pilot to accidentally turn the engine off.

Air Force investigators cited lax maintenance practices for the June 2 crash and told the Air Force to update its maintenance manuals to prevent similar malfunctions.

I worked F16s...I can believe that a technician performed crappy maintenance and caused the failure.

But I'm not buying that there's much else one can expect to accomplish with regards to updating manuals.

Same basic design has been flying for 40+ years and now it's insufficient?

One has to make a deliberate physical maneuver, a cock of the wrist to get the throttle past a hard detent/stop to go from Idle to OFF...something smells.
Throwing our allegiances to political parties in the long run gave away our liberty.
